Gas: the price rises after the first stop in Ukraine of the transit of Russian gas to Europe

Sale the price of gas in Europe. The new increase was triggered by an announcement from Ukraine: Grid, the company that manages gas transport in Kiev, announced that will block transit through the Sokhranivka entry point due to occupation by Russian forces. If Moscow so wishes, the flows could be redirected to the Sudzha compressor station in Russia to reach Europe from there.

The transit of gas to Europe through the Sokhranivka entry point "will stop at 7 on Wednesday 11 May due to the actions of the Russian occupation forces," Grid said in the past few hours. “It is still possible that the gas will come redirected to Sudzha compressor station, allowing European contracts to be respected,” reads a note reported by Bloomberg. Sokhranivka's is one of two key entry points in Ukraine for Russian gas flows to Europe.

The situation in Italy

However, there are no slowdowns in the Italian gas supply system. The flows in Tarvisio are down compared to yesterday, but they are compensated by a greater influx to Passo Gries (from the North), thanks to the interconnection of the networks and the various import sources. The injections of gas in storage also continue.
