Gas and electric cars: "greener" IP distributors

Enel and the API group today signed an agreement for the installation of fast charging points for electric cars in IP-branded service stations. It is the second agreement that the Brachetti Peretti family group signs, after a few days, after the one for the distribution of methane for cars with Snam.

The agreement announced today, Thursday 15 December, envisages two implementation phases: first, the fast charging points (E-corner) will be installed next to the petrol and diesel pumps in six IP service stations (three in Rome and three in Milan ), a project that should be completed by next spring; then two other IP fuel stations in the same cities will be transformed into E-Station Enel, i.e. electric-only charging stations managed by Enel which will be built in service areas currently being decommissioned.

The charging stations will be of the Fast Recharge Multistandard type, a technology developed by Enel that allows two vehicles to be charged at the same time in 20-30 minutes. This is an infrastructure compatible with all the cars in the sector currently on the market.

"The agreement is in line with our objective of offering the customer a diversified choice of forms of energy for mobility", commented the president of Api, Ugo Brachetti Peretti. "We look carefully at all innovative technologies, from electricity to methane: in doing so we intend to enhance the role of our network of over 3000 fuel sales points, which with its widespread presence in the area is essential to accompany the evolution of the sector of mobility".

"Enel considers electric mobility a great opportunity for the sustainable development of the transport sector and the reduction of air pollution," said Francesco Starace, Enel's CEO. “To this end, we conducted a study with the Milan Polytechnic for the creation of an electric recharging network that guarantees viability even over long distances. For the evolution of this technology, infrastructures that are increasingly widespread throughout the territory are needed: agreements like this signed today go in the right direction and constitute a lever for the development of zero-emission mobility".
