G7, Trump and Macron: thaw on China and Iran, 20 million for the Amazon

The latest G7 meeting ended in Biarritz, described as a "success" by the host, French President Emmanuel Macron.

Signs of thaw have arrived on several fronts. The number one in the White House, Donald Trump, announced that in the coming weeks could meet the Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani. "In the meantime - underlined the American president, however - they must play their cards right: they cannot do what they said they would do, otherwise there will be a rather violent reaction". Trump's words come after Tehran's foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, unexpectedly showed up in Biarritz last weekend.

News coming also regarding relations between the US and China. "Soon - Trump said again - there could be serious trade negotiations with Beijing".

Among the other topics on the G7 agenda there was also the planetary emergency of the fires that are ravaging the Amazon. A very small allocation has arrived from the meeting of the world's greats: a fund of just 20 million dollars. Brazil has indignantly refused help.

From Biarritz also an appeal to avoid violence ad Hong Kong.

Particular attention was then paid to the situation in Ukraine: France and Germany will organize a summit in Normandy format to achieve concrete results.

Also on the work table Libyan crisis. Macron revealed that there was unanimous support from the G7, invited African countries and the UN secretary-general for a document on Libya that includes a ceasefire, a political solution, an inter-Libyan conference and a road map with involvement of all parties to the conflict in the region.

Finally, the G7 committed itself to a world trade open and fair, aiming at the stability of the world economy. For this reason, as stated in the final declaration, he intends to profoundly change the WTO and undertakes to find an agreement to reform international taxation within the framework of the OECD.
