G7, Padoan: "Web tax goes on"

Internationally "the web tax is taking shape: there are various national positions but the G7 is also useful for this". This was stated by the Minister of Economy, Pier Carlo Padoan, entering the first day of the G7 in Bari, in a meeting in which – he recalled – other important issues are also on the table, "such as that of inclusive growth".

With web tax we indicate the bill that aims, in the digital economy era, at regulating taxation for multinationals operating on the Net, with the aim of ensuring tax equality and fair competition. In short, it is an attempt to make the so-called Over the Top (Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc) pay indirect taxes which operate and make profits in various countries of the world where, however, they do not have tax residence, thus ending up evading tens of billions of taxes.

On the subject of inclusive growth Padoan instead said: “The subject of growth and social inclusion it is at the heart of the G7 and G20 agenda. I am very happy with this. Italy is pursuing these issues, without social inclusion growth cannot be sustained and must go on”.
