Pompeii will host in September the opening event of the G7 of Culture. The minister Gennaro Sangiuliano officially designated the Campania city as the starting point for the summit events. It is an important place where they will meet the seven major industrialized powers on the planet, he explained, but "we have also extended it to other nations, such as Brazil, holder of the G20 this year, India, which was last year, probably Spain and there will certainly also be UNESCO in its highest peak."
Pompeii is one of historical and archaeological sites which best represents Italy. The other symbols are no less, but the magic of the Italic origins captures you here. An environmental magnetism that can only be explained by the looming silhouette of Vesuvius.
Pompeii has been valued for some time. Sangiuliano's predecessors had also invested, reorganized the accesses and supported new excavation campaigns. Dario Franceschini at the International Conference of Ministers of Culture at the Milan Expo 2016, had already exhibited blow-ups of the city devastated by the eruption of '79 AD. Today he has Sangiuliano at his side as director of the Museums Massimo Osanna who was Superintendent of Pompeii.
