After the green light from the board of directors, a new air transport company is born which will guarantee scheduled flights throughout the national territory - The new CEO is Giuseppe Gentile - Two capital increases will soon be launched, for a total maximum amount of around 231 million euros.

Baptism for a new Italian air transport group: Meridiana's board of directors has given the go-ahead for the acquisition of Air Italy. The new company will manage scheduled flights throughout the national territory, for a total turnover that is estimated to exceed 800 million euros. Massimo Chieli, CEO of Meridiana Fly, has resigned. In his place comes Giuseppe Gentile, founder of Air Italy. "The boards of directors of Meridiana Fly and of the controlling shareholder Meridiana - reads a note - have resolved to proceed with the acquisition of the entire share capital of Air Italy Holding, a company that owns 100% of Air Italy, held by Marchin Investment, Pathfinder and Zain, headed respectively by Giuseppe Gentile, Alessandro Notari and Giambenso Borgognoni Vimercati”.

The new company will manage scheduled flights throughout the national territory, for a total turnover that is estimated to exceed 800 million euros. Once the acquisition has been completed, "Meridiana Fly will launch two capital increases for a total maximum amount of approximately 231 million euro": a first capital increase of approximately 154 million will be carried out through the issue of ordinary shares offered under option to current shareholders, the second will instead be around 77 million "at the service of warrants, assigned free of charge to subscribers of the first capital increase".
