The last ones in chronological order were caught on 12 July by the carabinieri of the Torre Annunziata company which, after having recorded over 200 episodes of absenteeism in a few weeks, implemented 23 precautionary measures (arrest, but at home) against as many employees of the Municipality of Boscotrecase, in the province of Naples. They too, rightfully fall into the category of the so-called "cunning of the card", absentee workers who stamp the badge and then leave to "take care of other matters", such as shopping, gym, etc.

The 'crafty' are accused for various reasons of aggravated fraud against the State and of false attestations in service.

Within 48 hours of the fact, the employee will have to be suspended and will also be deprived of his salary, benefiting only from a "food allowance", equal to half of the basic salary.

Once the disciplinary procedure has been initiated and the Prosecution Office has been informed, the employee will have 15 days to prepare his defence. Then there will be two more weeks to complete the investigation, at the end of which the dismissal may take place. In addition, based on the provisions of the new law, the so-called sly card could have to pay the State for damage to his image for an amount equal to at least six months' salary. The exact amount will be established by a judge also on the basis of the prominence that his conduct has had in the media.

Finally, it should be emphasized that even the executive who pretends not to notice the offense committed by his subordinate may face dismissal.

The rules "apply to disciplinary offenses committed after the date of entry into force" of the text, precisely on Wednesday 13 July.
