Fumagalli: "Small Business Act to give oxygen to SMEs"

"Giving a new impetus to the Small Business Act", a law in support of the growth and innovation of SMEs, through a greater European role - especially in an economic-financial key - and a greater national commitment - above all from a legislative point of view. These, in summary, are the requests made by Rete Imprese Italia during the informal hearing on the review of the Small Business Act in the Production Activities Committee of the Chamber. As Cesare Fumagalli, general secretary of Confartigianato (the association that holds the rotating presidency of Rete Imprese Italia) explains, "the economic situation requires that particular attention be paid to the financing needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, but in this regard it is necessary underline the current weakness of the interventions prepared by the European Investment Bank (EIB) in terms of beneficiaries reached".

Therefore, there is a lack of funding at the Community level, while prompt regulatory action is needed at the national level. To allow the promotion of entrepreneurship, continues Fumagalli, "Rete Imprese Italia believes that an acceleration in the implementation of the measures already envisaged is necessary and a rapid approval of those in the definition phase for which we hope that both the Government and the Parliament Italian, want and can actively contribute". And speaking of the regulatory framework, "legislative simplification" is needed, underlined the representative of Rete Imprese Italia, who forcefully asks to "create the conditions to improve access to the market for SMEs".

In summary, Fumagalli reiterates, it is necessary to "give a new impetus to the Small Business Act", it being understood that "the main objectives of this law are: to legislate intelligently, guarantee access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises, fully exploit the benefits offered by the single market and promote entrepreneurship”.
