Ftse Mib, boom in bonuses for CEOs: +87% in 2015

The bonuses received by the managing directors of companies listed on the Ftse Mib almost doubled in 2015, recording an 87% growth over the previous year. This is what emerges from the latest Mercer report on the compensation of the boards of directors of the main Italian listed companies.

As regards the trend of the financial context indicators, while in 2013 the Ftse Mib index had recorded an increase of approximately 14% compared to 2012 and was substantially stable in 2014, in 2015 it grew by 11%. The cumulative gross profit of the companies in the index, on the other hand, recorded an increase of 22% compared to the previous year.

“In 2015, the main Italian companies pay their CEOs more on the results obtained – comments Marco Valerio Morelli, managing director of Mercer Italia -. The growth in short-term premiums (+87% compared to the previous year) is supported by the positive results in terms of economic, financial and equity performance of the companies, as demonstrated by the trend of the stock market index to which they belong as well as by the sum of gross profits produced which grew overall by 22% compared to 2014. Critical attention should be paid to the fact that the sample shows this trend also with reference to financial companies”.
