FS: security checks strengthened on four railway lines: +35% checked trains, +25% regularized tickets

FS Security, the company dedicated to ensuring greater security in all railway areas, has strengthened security services on four railway lines between Lombardy, Lazio, Emilia-Romagna and Campania. Here are the results of the initiative

FS Security, company of FS Group, announced the first assessment of the initiative it has strengthened security services on four railway lines in the regions of Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio and Campania. The period taken into consideration is from 16 November to 16 December 2023.

During this period they were checked on average more than five hundred trains per day in addition to the supervision of more than 40 stations and over 400 kilometers of railway lines. With the involvement of 140 operators per day, the initiative led to control of over 27.700 people, the expulsion of 160 individuals, 1.342 regularizations of travelers without tickets and the issuing of 160 fines.

The initiative is part of a broader plan conducted by FS Security, which provides for the strengthening of supervisory staff with the hiring of 1.500 employees at a national level.

Increases train control, +25% regularized tickets

The data reveals that thanks to this initiative there was a 35% increase in controlled trains, by 25% in ticket regularizations and 19% in the removal from trains and stations of people involved in illicit activities or without tickets.

Security activities in the four regions involved have including dedicated services, with the coordinated presence of FS Security staff on board the train and in the stations along the Milan-Piacenza, Bologna-Piacenza, Rome-Naples via Formia lines in the section between Rome and Formia, and Naples Piazza Garibaldi-Villa Literno.

Improve safety in all fields

The remodulation of security services aims to intervene in a coordinated manner along lines and stations considered critical, based on the analysis of FS Security databases.

The goal is improve both actual and perceived safety, reduce evasion, assist railway staff in managing critical situations and collaborate with the police if necessary.

Thisinitiative will certainly continue in the coming months, and indeed it will be further enhanced being extended, from January, also to other railway lines in our country in collaboration and coordination with RFI, Trenitalia and the other companies of the Group. Our goal is make the security service increasingly effective, awaiting the further investments that we plan to implement for 2024."
