FS, new orders for 1,25 billion: an opportunity for AnsaldoBreda

Trenitalia's rolling stock modernization plan continues. After having already awarded orders for 1,25 billion euros, the managing director Moretti announced today the launch of a new tender for 130 electric and diesel-powered metropolitan and regional trains, with an option for a further 60 trains destined for the local transport.

Maurizio Manfellotto, managing director of AnsaldoBreda, a company of the Finmeccanica group, present at the event, reassured that the company will participate in the tender.

The new orders represent a great opportunity for the company, recently the subject of interest from the Japanese Hitachi.

Following the presentation of Finmeccanica's financial statements, with a loss of 2011 billion euros in 2,3, the managing director Orsi had in fact anticipated a part of the industrial plan of the group, which aims to restore the financial statements by divesting the subsidiaries in the civil sector for focus on specific sectors, such as defence, aeronautics, electronics.

A recovery plan that has aroused the protests of the unions of Ansaldo Breda and Ansaldo Sts, the two companies of the group affected by the disposal plan.

Precisely from this point of view the assessments by the Japanese of Hitachi Rail began, but the unions immediately raised their shields fearing that the sale of the group could lead to a rationalization of the workforce.
