Luigi Ferraris, Chief Executive Officer of Italian FS Group, has been designated President of the Europe Region for the period 2024-2025 fromUIC Europe Regional Assembly.

The UIC (International Union of Railways) is theinternational organization representing railways and the main players in the railway sector worldwide.

Ferraris: “Honoured to hold this prestigious position”

"I'm honored to hold this prestigious position for the next two years. Together with my fellow CEOs of the other European railway companies represented by UIC, I will do my utmost in the initiatives and projects of the UIC Europe Region to face the many challenges that await us – he declared Luigi Ferraris – The development of rail transport with a view to increasing decarbonisation will be our objectives, while digitalisation and innovation will be our enablers for success. Close collaboration between technical developments and the political agenda of the European Union is essential to achieve the ambitious goals set for the sector."

Ferraris was designated cas successor to Martin Frobisher of Network Rail as president of the EMC (European Management Committee). The decision was taken following the Committee's proposal during the September 2023 meeting.

First meeting in February 2024

La first EMC meeting under the new presidency of Luigi Ferraris will take place on February 19, 2024 in Rome. The meeting will be crucial for define the roadmap, the strategies and priorities for the coming years for the UIC Europe Region.

As President of the UIC Europe Region, the CEO of the FS Group will collaborate closely with other European members to promote a competitive, sustainable and attractive rail transport system for over 500 million citizens across Europe.
