Gianfranco Battisti, managing director and director of the FS Group, was elected in the context of the general assembly held in Gdansk, in Management Committee of the Community of European Railways, the body that brings together the old continent's railway companies, national associations, infrastructure managers and railway vehicle leasing companies. Battisti also joined the CEO's Call to Action, the call for sustainable development launched by the international network CSR Europe to business leaders and and has been appointed ambassador for Promoting diversity in the transport sector.

“Rail transport is the solution to make the transport system in Europe more sustainable”, underlined Battisti, “We will work with CER to achieve the COXNUMX reduction target2 in the atmosphere, in the period 2020-2021, supported by both the European institutions and the ERC. In Italy, over the past 10 years, we have already implemented an integrated mobility project which has contributed, with 55 billion in investments in infrastructure and services, to the sustainable development of the transport system by reducing CO emissions2 of 20 million tons".

The 2019-2023 Industry Plan itself, explains the CEO, was drawn up in line with the objectives of the UN 2030 Agenda and also confirmed by the adhesion to the CSR Europe CEOs Call to Action.

“The challenge before us is to combine, in a careful and virtuous way, the economic-financial objectives of the company with the profiles of social responsibility, of environmental tourism and with the general principles of sustainable development but, rather, that of making sustainable action the true driver of development and the creation of value for shareholders and for the entire country system. The FS Italiane Group is also strongly committed to ensuring that all corporate work environments are respectful of diversity, including gender diversity, free from prejudice and above all fair.” concludes Battisti.

The General Assembly of the CER, which was held in Gdansk in Poland, confirmed Crister Fritzson as president. In addition to Gianfranco Battisti, the Management Committee includes the top management of the main European railway companies: Guillaumme Pepy (SNCF), Richard Lutz (DB), Andreas Meyer (SBB) and Isaias Taboas Suarez (Renfe).
