Fs: CEO Battisti meets the ambassador of Colombia

Gianfranco Battisti, managing director and general manager of the FS Italiane group, met in Rome with the representatives of the Government of Colombia and the Ambassador to Italy, Gloria Isabel Ramírez, for the "Colombian Investment Summit” (7-9 October), the international appointment in which investments in strategic infrastructures in the South American country will be identified and planned.

The manager underlined how the joint cooperation of the Italian and Colombian Ministries of Foreign Affairs “will generate many development opportunities in various sectors including major infrastructural works and rail and road transport, also thanks to the transfer of technologies and know-how”.

For the Colombian Ambassador, Gloria Isabel Ramírez, the arrival of FS Italiane in Colombia "is great news because the recent opening in Bogotá of a branch of the company controlled by FS, Italferr, will create new jobs, confirming the excellent relations between the two countries", says Ferrovie through a Note.

In fact, we recall that at the end of August, Italferr, in consortium with other international companies was awarded in Colombia a 50 million euro contract for the supervision of works on Line 1 of the Bogotá metro. The tender, managed by Empresa Metro Bogotà, is part of the "PLMB - Primera Línea del Metro de Bogotá - Tramo 1" project which envisages the construction of 24 kilometers of underground line, including 16 underground stations and sections, as well as depots for the rolling stock in the Colombian capital area (total investment 4,3 billion US dollars).
In addition to Italferr, too Anas is active in Colombia. The company, in consortium with other companies, carried out on behalf of the Agencia Nacional de Infraestructura (ANI), the integral structuring of approximately 3 kilometers of roads as part of the 4G (Fourth Generation Road Infrastructure Program) and developed the executive project 13 bridges for INVIAS, the national road management body. The orders generated total revenues of 70 billion Colombian pesos, of which 14 billion was the Anas share (equivalent to around 17 million euros).
