"With another four billion to purchase an additional 500 trains, the entire regional fleet could be renewed and give a significant change to local mobility". This was stated by Michele Mario Elia, CEO of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, on the occasion of the presentation in Milan of #Note, the new magazine of the FS Italiane Group.
"New regional fleet, more comfort and services - said Elia, who also underlined how local transport is a priority on which the Group is committed with unprecedented financial efforts and a maximum level of attention towards customers who move daily for study or work".
During the launch of the new magazine, the CEO explained that 16 billion euros is the value of the infrastructure investment program for the development of local transport in the metropolitan areas and on the regional network." The progress of this program – Elia explains – is equal to 50%, the planned interventions in the metropolitan areas of Turin and Bologna are nearing completion”.
"Every day we make two million commuters travel and we have allocated three billion euros in self-financing for the purchase and complete restructuring of over 500 trains" underlined the number one of FS Italiane. “Advanced technologies that respect the environment, high comfort, maximum flexibility and functionality of the rooms, even for people with reduced mobility, are the main features of the new Vivalto, Jazz and Swing trains, already in circulation on the national network”.
