FS and Busitalia are relaunching mobility in the South: new buses to and from Calabria.

The first five vehicles are in service to Milan, Turin, and Verona. The long-distance fleet will be completely renewed by the end of the year.

Busitalia, a company controlled by Trenitalia (FS Group), puts on the road the first five buses of a major order for 111 new vehicles destined for the long-distance connectionsThe routes involved concern Calabria in particular, from which the new buses towards some of the major cities Central and Northern Italy: Milan, Turin, Verona, but also Genoa, Bologna, Rome, Florence, Padua, and Parma. The services are managed by Busitalia Rail Service and aim to improve accessibility and travel quality for those traveling to and from Southern Italy.

An investment of 44 million

The arrival of the new vehicles is part of a broader plan of 44 million euros intended for the renewal of the national fleet, with a particular focus on Calabria. In this region, where the demand for mobility remains high and often unmet, FS has allocated 8,7 million for completely renovate by 2025 All means of transport used for interregional connections. The goal is to increase frequency, service quality, and integration with the rail system.

More comfort, more safety, more accessibility

The new buses are models Mercedes Benz Tourismo 16RHD, Euro 6 engines, with 53 seats. They offer first-class comfort: reclining seats with footrests, tables, individual lighting, air conditioning, restrooms, WiFi, USB ports, information monitors, and numbered seats. Accessibility is also taken into account, with ramps for persons with reduced mobility (PRM). On the safety front, the vehicles are equipped with Adas systems for driving assistance, in line with the most advanced European standards.

With this intervention, FS reaffirms the own commitment to more modern mobility, inclusive and integrated, even in historically underserved areas of the country.
