Inconvenience to come for passengers travelling by train, in particular for High Speed users, due to upcoming construction work modernization of railway network on the Rome-Florence routeThe planned speed reduction during the works will result in longer travel times, making the start of the new year more complicated for those travelling by train.
The FS Group, through Italian Railway Network (Rfi), is preparing to launch an important project to renew the high-speed line connecting Florence and Rome. From January 7th to March 4th, the works will affect the routes between Capena and Gallese e between Settebagni and Rome Tiburtina, for a total of approx 20 kilometers.
The total investment of 12 million euros, the intervention will see theemployment of 75 technicians specialized and numerous means of transport, including construction trains, to carry out the work quickly and efficiently.
Night work to limit disruption
To minimize the impact on travelers, the construction site activities will take place predominantly at nighttime. Despite this, some trains will have to reduce speed, bringing to Longer travel times on the Orte–Rome routeHigh Speed (AV), Intercity (IC) and Regional trains will be affected.
Among the main changes, some AV trains will not stop at Roma Tiburtina, while at the Rome Termini hub there are scheduled changes in schedules of departure and arrival. Consequently, those who travel during this period will have to take into account slower routes and some inevitable inconveniences.

For those travelling between January and March, it is advisable to carefully check the train timetables and plan your journeys with greater flexibility. FS ensures that the information will be promptly updated on official channels and that assistance to passengers will be guaranteed.
The intervention, despite the inconvenience, is an essential step for ensure efficiency of one of the most important and busiest railway lines in Italy, a crucial hub for national rail traffic.
