FS: Frecce and Regionali increase, the rules for travellers

Trenitalia has implemented a series of measures aimed at making passengers travel safely on its trains during phase 2 of the coronavirus emergency. Starting from Monday 18 May, on board the Frecciarossa and Frecciargento trains Trenitalia staff will distribute a free safety kit composed of: mask, sanitizing gel, latex gloves and disposable headrest.

“On Trenitalia high-speed trains, by scanning the QR code positioned on the tables with a smartphone, passengers can view information on the activities and the cleaning and sanitization processes activated by the company of transport of the FS Italiane Group”, the company announced in a note, which also recalls how, in this phase 2, seat availability remains at 50% of the maximum capacity of each train, and increases the number of trains. In total there are 4.400 regional journeys available to travelers throughout Italy, 38 Frecce (from 18) and 20 InterCity (from 6).

Fs announces that at the moment they are digital solutions are being studied to allow passengers to carry out a self check-in, without any contact with the personnel on board the train. "Furthermore, a function will soon be available on Trenitalia systems which will allow travelers on regional trains to have information on how frequent each journey is and, therefore, on the available seats", explains the company.

As for the other general rules. Passengers traveling on trains of the FS Italiane group have theobligation to wear a mask and respect safety distances. The use of gloves is also recommended. 

It will also be necessary to use routes and doors for entering and leaving the trains as indicated by the information panels and follow the instructions when entering or exiting the gates.
