The planned interventions include the extension and raising of the platforms to facilitate getting on and off the trains, as well as the strengthening of the video surveillance systems.
The goal of the program is to transform stations into intermodal hubs, complete with spaces and services, that act as nerve centers for a multimodal transport network.
Some specific ongoing projects are, for example, the Venezia Mestre station which, with an investment of approximately 75 million euros, will be transformed into a urban reconnection hub between Mestre and Marghera or the Bergamo station which, with an investment of 84 million euros, will become an intermodal hub for services and exchanges, facilitating the connection between the city and the surrounding area. Other interventions of the plan concern stations such as Teramo, Busalla, La Spezia, Genova Pegli, Piacenza, Ferrara and Pontassieve, with the aim of improving accessibility and promoting intermodality.

RFI also assigned 29 (of 5 million euros each) of the 40 lots in the tender tender worth 200 million euro to carry out routine maintenance work on civil works through a Framework Agreement. The total cost of the assigned lots is 145 million euros.
The allocation of lots is part of a investment plan larger than 3 billion euros, for ordinary and extraordinary maintenance interventions scheduled during 2023 implemented by RFI.
