In France The rumors have been going around for some time but now it's official: Francois hollande, 69 years old, former President of the French Republic from 2012 to 2017, returns to the field and wants to lend a hand to his old socialist party. He explained it himself in an interview on “LeJournal.info“, French progressive site directed by Laurent Joffrin, former director of Nouvel Observateur and Liberation, who does not hide his sympathies for the rising star of the reformist left, Raphael Glucksman, son of the great philosopher André and leading candidate in the next European elections for Place publique, a party allied with the socialists. Hollande has openly declared that he will participate in the electoral campaign for the renewal of the European Parliament in June. Respecting the roles, the former President of the Republic, who will soon publish his book on Europe, said in the interview that he will participate in the current electoral campaign underway but that it is up to Glucksman and his list mates lead the electoral competition. Hollande added that he does not fear a victory for the right but that the European elections will also have a great influence on the aftermath. And that is, on the future of Europe and on the course of French internal politics, also considering the fact that the President Emmanuel Macron he is destined to leave the Elysée in 2027 because he can no longer be re-elected after two presidential terms. And it will be then that new scenarios can open up. Hollande does not say that he will run in 2027 in the hope of beating Marine Le Pen's far right to return to the Elysée but he does not rule out anything. “You will see that after the European elections I will be present” said Hollande who added: “I will do anything to help” the renewal and unity of the progressive coalition. We will soon understand whether as a candidate for the President of the Republic or not.
