In France, GDP falls by 0,2% q/t and by 0,4% y/y – The figure was expected by analysts, as was the technical entry into recession.

France is also technically entering a recession, recording negative, albeit limited, growth in the last two quarters. Today's figure, relating to the first quarter of 2013, shows a drop of 0,2% of the GDP compared to the last quarter of 2012; making a comparison with the same period of the previous year instead, the decrease was 0,4%. These findings by the French Institute of Statistics confirm the preliminary estimates and were widely expected by the consensus of analysts.
