France, new trains too wide: redoing the tracks will cost 50 million

To define the "comically dramatic situation" is the same French Undersecretary for Transport, Frederic Cuviller: esplothe controversy in France for a sensational design error of the new regional trains (two thousand ready to enter service), wider than the previous ones, which will require significant works to adapt the station platforms, for a total cost of 50 million euros .

The news, released by the satirical weekly The chained Duck, has been confirmed by the railways (Sncf and Rff). The inadequate measures concern 182 Ter Regiolis wagons of Alstom and 159 Regio 2N of the manufacturer Bombardier, ready to enter regional service from now until the end of 2016. The modernization works will concern 1.300 platforms out of 8.700 of the national network. Very embarrassed those responsible for the French railway network, who tried to explain betteror what happened: “it's as if you have a new Ferrari, and you can't put it in the garage, because it's a different size…”.
