France: Macron convinces, the euro smiles

Emmanuel Macron convinces in the first ballot in the race that will lead to theElisha, and the euro smiles. Over three hours of discussion on all the main themes of the presidential campaign, five hours after the vote, during which the thirty-nine-year-old ex-minister convinced 29% of viewers, followed by 20% by the leader of the alternative left Jean-Luc Mélenchon. Marine Le Pen, leader of the Front National and Francois Fillon, head of the Républicains, stop at 19%. Behind the socialist Benoit Hamon at 11%

Macron therefore appears, at least at the moment, to be the only possible opponent for Marine Le Pen, who he also spoke of yesterday Frexit, France's exit from the Eurozone. Despite the many attacks received, the founder of En Marche! he held his ground, confirming the impressions of the polls, which would give him a very slight advantage over the leader of the Front National, at 25,5% against 25% in the first round.

A result, that of yesterday's debate, which contributes to the optimism of the European currency, with the euro/dollar rising by more than half a percentage point in the late morning, returning above 1,08 (with an intraday high at 1,0804) . This is a level not seen since February 6.

The increase against the dollar, however, can also be explained by the decline in the US currency, weighed down by doubts that the Fed can accelerate its rate hike cycle with respect to the current consensus. In any case, the US central bank will probably wait at least until June to decide on new moves.
