France, Hollande launches the pact with companies and glosses over the Gayet case

“Exemplary at all times”. The announcement during the electoral campaign, deliberately critical of the private life of his predecessor and opponent of the Elysee throne, did not escape even Nicolas Sarkozy, former president of the French Republic and now, like the wise old man perched on the river bank at wait for the corpse of the enemy, among the first to point the finger at the current Head of State, that François Hollande who defeated him not even a year ago by pointing – among other things – precisely on the moral question.

Moral issue that is now tragicomically falling on the leader of the left, overwhelmed by the scandal of his clandestine relationship with the actress Julie Gayet, born in 72 (almost 20 years younger than the President), amply testified by the photographic scoop of Closer magazine. A circumstance which, in addition to causing a stir – even if the rumor had already been circulating in some transalpine television broadcasts since December – has already “knocked out” Hollande's current official companion, the premiére dame Valerie Trierweiler, hospitalized for an illness after hearing the news , however anticipated by the same partner.

Hollande who then didn't back down even in front of over 500 journalists of all nationalities, present today in Paris at the first presidential press conference of the new year, however glossing over the mother of all questions: what will become of the first Lady? "Private facts must remain private", the Elysée tenant firmly said, perhaps forgetting that there is no more public office than the one he holds, even if Le Parisien has already anticipated that the separation from the journalist is ready Trierweiler: "He will give you the sack as soon as you leave the hospital," says the French newspaper.

During the conference Hollande also - and above all - spoke on the issues of the political and economic life of the country, invoking a Pact of responsibility between the Government and businesses and promising a 2014 marked by growth. To achieve this goal, the President announced the establishment of a Council for Public Expenditure, which “will control state expenditure before making commitments, avoiding subsequent cuts. We want a new method: to do better by spending less”. The French Head of State also spoke of a topic very dear to Italy too, that of reviewing the number of Regions: "The territorial structure needs to be changed, there could be unifications but in some cases the regions could also increase".
