France, here is the new Valls team: Royal is back in government

There are 16 ministers in the new government of Manuel Valls. The list, which also includes five women including President François Hollande's former partner, Ségolène Royal, was announced this morning by the secretary general of the Elysée, Pierre-René Lemas.

The former candidate for the presidency of the socialist party is therefore back in government: she has been appointed minister of the environment and ecology (the Greens are not present in the new team). Laurent Fabius and Jean-Yves Le Drian were instead confirmed respectively at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense. Arnaud Montebourg is the new Economy Minister while Bernard Cazeneuve will be Valls's successor at the Interior Ministry.

Benoit Hamon will be the head of the education ministry, while Christiane Taubira is confirmed in charge of justice. Michel Sapin is the new finance minister; Marisol Touraine was given the Ministry of Social Affairs. The Ministry of Labor will be led by François Rebsamen, while Najat Vallaud-Belkacem will head the Ministry of Equal Opportunities and Cities. Sylvia Pinel is the new Minister of Housing, Marylise Lebranchu remains at Decentralization. Aurélie Filippetti remains Minister of Culture and Communication, Stéphane Le Foll will lead the Ministry of Agriculture. George Pau-Langevin is the Minister for Overseas Territories.
