The French customs office has released data on the trade deficit: the country's deficit in December was 4,993 billion euros – Exports are down, imports stable – In 2011 a record deficit of 69,59 billion euros.

France's trade deficit continues to grow, according to the press release from the Transalpine Customs Office. A further deficit was recorded in December, in trade with the rest of the world, of 4,993 billion euros against the 4,140 billion of the previous month and the 5,357 billion of December 2010. Exports fell to 36,458 billion from 37,460 billion, while imports varied marginally to 41,451 billion from 41,600 billion.

Il annual balance between exports and imports reached a negative record of 2011 billion for the whole of 69,59, compared with a deficit of 51,52 billion in the previous year.
