The European Commission will reject France's 2015 budget bill. This morning, various officials of the currency union made it known, according to which Brussels, at the end of October, will ask Paris to modify the current plan to comply with the obligations to reduce the deficit linked to European rules.
The Commission's decision, considered highly probable, would represent a first: up to now, the executive arm of the EU has never asked a member country to make changes to a bill on public finances. Disciplinary procedures against France are also possible, which would be brought to the last level before sanctions. Lastly, the Commission could grant Paris another two years to reduce the deficit below EU limits.
