Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation in Paris opens a new exhibition space dedicated to photography

The Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation change format again. At the gallery The Cube of 300 m2018, inaugurated in November 79 at 100 rue des Archives in the Marais, there is a 2 m2022 underground of additional exhibition since November XNUMX. The Tubes is the recovery of a magnificent 18th century cellar located under the current Foundation. This new space was redesigned by the NOVO architectural firm, which had already beautifully landscaped the HCB Foundation at 79 rue degli Archivi. This spectacular space is updated under the authority of the architects of the State and the City of Paris which looks there a beautiful piece of architecture: 6,50m wide, 3,50m high, all in stone.

Cube + Pipe + Library + Educational Space they will therefore be a unique place of over 500 m2 dedicated to photography in the heart of the Marais, fully accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation: two programs to celebrate the new exhibition spaces

To celebrate this extension, the8th November two exceptional programs will open to the public:

In the Tube: the exhibition Reconciliation – Henri Cartier-Bresson with Martin Parr, organized with the Martin Parr Foundation (Bristol) and Cinémathèque française. From a common subject, English at work and during their hobbies, treated in three different periods, this exhibition reconciles two very influential photographers but with very different uses and aesthetics. Curator: Francois Hebel.

In the Cube: the Jan Groover exhibition. Forms Laboratory, produced by Photo Elysée (Lausanne). Conceived by Tatyana Franck, Emilie Delcambre Hirsch and Agnès Sire (for the Paris adaptation), this retrospective pays homage to the American photographer Jan Groover (1943-2012). Through experimenting with the photographic medium throughout his career, and with color in particular, Jan Groover has occupied a unique place in the history of photography.
