Photovoltaic, Fimer aims at the Japanese market

The Lombard company that produces energy converters for photovoltaic panels insists on its internationalization process and opens an office in Tokyo, taking advantage of the local government's incentives for renewables.

Photovoltaic, Fimer aims at the Japanese market

Fimer, the Lombard company specializing in energy converters for photovoltaic panels (of which it is the fourth largest producer in the world), expands into Japan, opening a new office in Shinagawa, Tokyo's main business district. The choice goes in the direction of an increasingly intense internationalization of the business, which is one of the objectives of the new CEO, Alessio Facondo, former CEO of Leonardo's Aerostructures Division and nominated last April. The expansion follows a path inaugurated at the beginning of 2020, before the Covid emergency, when Fimer had placed the coup of the acquisition of ABB's solar division.

Why Japan? Because the photovoltaic sector in the Japanese country is growing, thanks also to the efforts of the government which aims to ensure that renewable energies represent 22-24% of national production of electricity by 2030. The country's commitment to achieve zero carbon emissions has attracted more investment from local companies and multinationals, particularly in the construction of large-scale and industrial solar power plants . With the intention of reinforcing the commitment to create added value for the customer, Fimer therefore aims to increase the number of contact points both through the launch of the new website and the service centre. The service center, scheduled to open at Tokyo's Tama Center by 2021, will offer operations and maintenance (O&M) support, as well as on-site training for technicians and service agents.

“I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations to Fimer Japan – he commented the President of Fimer Filippo Carzaniga – for the opening of the new office. Following Fimer's acquisition of ABB's solar inverter business in March, our strategy has focused on creating customer value across all segments of the PV market, as well as exploiting opportunities to expand into high-growth territories. growth. Japan is a strategic market where we are currently seeing strong demand, especially in the utility sector. The opening of the new Fimer headquarters and the next service center reinforce our commitment to customers, who thus have access to a complete range of offers. I have full confidence that the team is prepared to best meet the needs of our customers.”
