Photovoltaic, Enel: 2 plants in South Africa at the start

Enel, through its renewable energy subsidiary Enel Green Power RSA, has started production at the two Adams and Pulida photovoltaic plants (82,5 MW each), respectively in the provinces of Northern Cape and Free State in South Africa.

Adams and Pulida together are able to produce 318 GWh per year, equal to the annual consumption of about 100 South African families, avoiding the emission of over 290 tons of CO2 per year.

The two solar plants rely on a twenty-year energy supply contract with the South African utility Eskom, which Enel was awarded in 2014 as part of the third phase of the Renewable energy independent power producer procurement program promoted by the South African government.

In South Africa, Egp Rsa currently owns and operates three other photovoltaic plants: Paleisheuwel (82,5 MW), located in the Western Cape province, Tom Burke (66 MW) in the Limpopo province and Upington (10 MW), in the Northern Cape province .

The company also operates the 88 MW Nojoli Wind Farm in the Eastern Cape, where the 111 MW Gibson Bay Wind Farm is also under construction.
