Photography/Rome, tribute to Nino Manfredi at Palazzo Braschi

Ten years after the death of the actor Nino Manfredi opens today the exhibition that sees him as the protagonist in the many photographs. The inauguration also includes the presentation of the unreleased song which the Roman actor sang before his death.

After the Hollywood stage, the Roman success of Maestro Roberto Gatto's evocative jazz concert at the Conciliazione Auditorium, the special day in Castro di Volsci, Nino's birthplace and the screening of the restored copy at the Venice festival by the CSC - Cineteca national, ofA soldier's adventure”, continues the event “Nino! – Homage to Nino Manfredi”, which, throughout the year, both in Italy and abroad, retraces and pays homage to the most significant moments in the private and artistic life of Nino Manfredi on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of his death and which has obtained the adhesion of the President of the Republic.

“NINO!”, this is the title of the tribute exhibition hosted at the Museum of Rome Palazzo Braschi until 6 January 2015 and dedicated to Nino Manfredi, is promoted by Roma Capitale, Department of Culture, Creativity and Artistic Promotion - Capitoline Superintendence, by Dalia Events and Dalia Association who take care of it in collaboration with Onni and ExNovo, and supported by the Manfredi family.

An exhibition whose objective, by the will of the curators Camilla Benvenuti and Sarah Masten flanked by the architect Maria Francesca Marasà, is to accompany the viewer through a journey of rediscovery of Nino Manfredi behind the camera and of the artist who gave the world of cinema and of the show memorable interpretations that made him fully one of the four colonels of the Italian Comedy.

A photographic and multimedia exhibition divided into 10 rooms, each of which is entrusted with the task of telling one of the many facets of this timeless artist and enriched by the testimonies of important personalities from the world of culture and entertainment such as Gianni Canova, Enrico Brignano, Ornella Vanoni, Alessandro Benvenuti, Lina Wertmuller, Giuliano Montaldo, Pietro Abate and Alberto Panza together with those of their children Roberta and Luca.

“Nino! Nino!” this was the name he echoed when Nino was still alive at the Manfredi house. This is what his wife Erminia and his children Roberta, Luca and Giovanna called him. And from here begins our story to those who, 10 years after his disappearance, have not had the opportunity to know him. A simple, informal but above all familiar title. Because this has been our intention from the beginning: to accompany you on this year-long journey to (re)discover one of the greatest artists of Italian cinema and entertainment, one of the 4 colonels, but above all the person that Nino was and who lives in the memory and memory of those who knew him and those who loved him even behind the camera. Starting the story from the man he was, since the beginning of his career to get to celebrate the unforgettable and chameleon-like artist he has become over the course of his very long career and who has given cinema memorable interpretations.

His family will accompany us in this story together with important personalities from the world of culture and entertainment who have had the privilege of working with him or who have studied his meticulous work. And to whom we address our infinite gratitude, for having enriched this exhibition with their stories, their anecdotes and their memories. Camilla Benvenuti and Sarah Masten Curators and Artistic Directors

The exhibition will also present the unpublished documentary, made by Willy Colombini during the historian's American tour Rugantino of 1964; the documentary "80 years of actor”, created by Luca Manfredi; an original Super8 of the time shot at the Manfredi house; an unreleased song recorded by Nino a few years before his death; about 100 photographic prints and three scenographic reconstructions.
