The author Robyn Lea talks to Bradley Seymour, creative director of Marie Claire. Did you know that Jackson Pollock was he also a gardener and a good baker who loved to cook dinners in his Long Island home? Robyn Lea with a long research work has found the diary with the handwritten recipes of the artist, by his wife, the artist Lee Krasner and by his mother Stella, which reveal a great interest in good food and a particular attention for the seasonal products of the land as he tells Frances Pollock, Jackson's nephew in his introduction.

Lea had the recipes prepared by a group of chefs following them to the letter and she photographed the result establishing a connection between recipes, art and nature. The result is this book which describes with care and naturalness a house, the one in the Hamptons, a recipe book and a long history as an artist: «I cooked but he baked the bread...he was very fussy with his baking...a wonderful bread, the desserts, apple pies,” said Lee Krasner. From appetizers to side dishes to breads to desserts, over fifty favorites including Stella's potato pancakes, Elaine de Kooning's bouillabaisse, corn and fruit salad, Rita Benton's pecan pie, Jackson and his award-winning apple pie offer an uncommon journey between anecdotes and visions, with original recipes culled from the scribbled pages, newspaper clippings tucked into cookbooks and recipe books.

The stories of Jackson and his family are intertwined with respectful juxtapositions to the images of his work, the atelier and each dish cooked. With a foreword by Francesca Pollock and an introduction by Helen Harrison, director of the Pollock-Krasner House Study Center, Dinner with Jackson Pollock presents a curious and unpublished portrait of the artist and the delicious tastes of an American home in the XNUMXs. Robyn Lea, of Australian origin, lived in Milan in her adolescence where she worked as a photographer's assistant. She moved to New York where she lives and works as a television director and writer. She has worked on advertising campaigns around the world for Peroni, Kodak, Tempo, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, and her work ranges from the worlds of art and fashion, to cooking and design.
