The second edition of the Photographs – Icons & Style auction was held on 30 June in Paris. A catalog of 60 works by artists such as Irving Penn and Helmut Newton, Robert Mapplethorpe, William Klein, Araki, Nick Brandt, Loretta Lux and Stéphane Sednaoui.
Also present is the monumental print Big Nude II by Helmut Newton, included in the famous series of the same name produced in 1980 and valued between €250.000 and €350.000.
Whether the works depict towering flowers, nudes, famous models, wild animals or still lifes, these images continue to be iconic and each reflect a significant period and style in the history of photography.
Paris, like New York, always remain the best squares for the photography market, which always acclaims the great masters and their images capable of expressing a certain sensuality, as in the highly sought-after works of Newton, Penn and Horst.
From an investment point of view, it always appears to be a form of liquidity, when it is guaranteed by the author. title, number of copies and preservation. However, the trend of the last year is positive with a constant growth in value without "click hits or excess bids". Photography remains in the diversified art investment portfolio, between 5 and 10%.
