Photography, the twentieth century told by 24 authors at the M9 museum

It is the Italy of photographers. 24 author stories the first temporary exhibition produced for the museum M9, the new cultural pole of Venice Mestre which tells the story of the twentieth century and which until next June 16th will be open to tourists and enthusiasts. The review was organized by Casa dei Tre Oci and curated by Denis Curtis.

The entire exposition consists of over 230 images of different formats, in color and in black and white, all taken by 24 of the best-known Italian photographers who, through their art, have recounted the twentieth century of the country.

The photographers present with their specific project are Olivo Barbieri, Gabriele Basilico, Letizia Battaglia, Gianni Berengo Gardin, Carla Cerati, Luca Campigotto, Lisetta Carmi, Giovanni Chiaramonte, Mario Cresci, Mario De Biasi, Franco Fontana, Maurizio Galimberti, Arturo Ghergo, Luigi Ghirri, Mario Giacomelli, Francesco Jodice, Mimmo Jodice, Nino Migliori, Riccardo Moncalvo, Ugo Mulas, Fulvio Roiter, Ferdinando Scianna, Tazio Secchiaroli, and Massimo Vitali.

Each artist took part in the exhibition with their own independent project, each following their own inclinations: Letizia Battaglia – The mafia in Palermo; Olivo Barbieri – Artificial Illuminations; Gianni Berengo Gardin – Dying of class; Gabriele Basilico – Milan. Journey into representation; Mario Cresci - Real portraits, Tricarico 1967-1972; Mario De Biasi – Fifties; Franco Fontana – Inventing space; Maurizio Galimberti – Trip to Italy; Arturo Ghergo – The stars from the Thirties to the Fifties; Luigi Ghirri – The profile of the clouds; Mario Giacomelli – I don't have hands to caress my face; Mimmo Jodice – Views of Naples; Francesco Jodice – Postcards from other spaces; Nino Migliori – People of Emilia; Riccardo Moncalvo – The holidays; Hugh Mulas. Bar Jamaica; Fulvio Roiter – Around Neorealism; Ferdinando Scianna – Religious festivals in Sicily; Tazio Secchiaroli – Tazio Secchiaroli and Federico Fellini; Massimo Vitali – Italian beaches and discos.
