Forum Ambrosetti: the Government makes its debut in Cernobbio, Hillary Clinton guest star

A very "American" edition and for the first time with the unknown factor of a government that has just taken office and has not even actually taken office. As the Forum presents itself The European House – Ambrosetti at Villa d'Este in Cernobbio, now in its 45th edition: as every year since 1975, on the shores of Lake Como they meet for three days (from today, Friday 6 September, until Sunday 8) big names in international politics and finance. The "gotha", as they say, even if this year for the first time (precisely because it had never happened that a government fell in the middle of summer) there is uncertainty about the guests of the Italian executive, historically present above all on Sunday, the one traditionally – and also this year – entirely dedicated to the Italian scenario.

The premier Giuseppe Conte is actually expected already on Saturday afternoon but it is not said that it will come. Also on Saturday, in addition to Romano Prodi and Enrico Letta, are expected, among others, the minister of the United Kingdom for the exit from the European Union, Steve Barclay, the French economy minister, Bruno Le Maire, the finance minister of Portugal and president of the Eurogroup, Mário Centeno and German Deputy Finance Minister Jörg Kukies. But Saturday will above all be Hillary Clinton's day: the former US secretary of state, and 2016 presidential candidate, will be the guest of honor and will be accompanied by an official delegation of five US senators and congressmen .

Friday, the opening day and usually dedicated to major global issues with an especially economic, geopolitical and scientific/technological slant. He was expected to moderate the first debate theformer prime minister, Paolo Gentiloni, Italian candidate for European commissioner. However, Gentiloni spent the morning in Brussels where he had an hour-long conversation with the president of the EU Commission, Ursula Von del Leyen. Instead, the vice president of the ECB, Luis de Guindos, is expected in the morning.

On the other hand, on Sunday, commitments permitting, the new Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio is scheduled, who could meet his former colleague Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini: a clash that, if confirmed, promises sparks (even if the rumors say that both could be absent). Instead, there will be the president of Confindustria, Vincenzo Boccia, and the governors Attilio Fontana, Stefano Bonaccini, Giovanni Toti and Vincenzo De Luca. Closing Sunday, and consequently the entire event, will be, as usual, the Minister of the Economy, therefore in theory Roberto Gualtieri.
