Assets seized for an amount of 163 million euros, 259 searches and at least 118 suspects. At the moment this is the balance sheet of the blitz by the Guardia di Finanza of Arezzo and Naples at some "buy gold", to vanquish a criminal association aimed at laundering and receiving illicit proceeds. The blitz, called "Fort Knox" is still ongoing, and its scope seems destined to grow further.
The criminal association would be rooted in 11 regions and would have its summit in Switzerland and would act especially in the gold districts of Arezzo, Marcianise (Ce) and Valenza. The first investigative findings have arrived in recent months, thanks to some interventions by the Guardia di Finanza. It is estimated that the criminal group was able to manage illegal exchanges for 4.500 kilos of gold and 11.000 of silver.
