Fornero: time to reform private pensions

The autonomous pension funds have until 30 September to verify the financial sustainability at 50 years and then define any corrective actions. This is how the Minister of Labour, Elsa Fornero, set the timetable for reforming the third pillar of our social security system: that of social security instruments aimed at the world of the free profession.

"For all the other Italians, the majority - the minister pointed out in front of an audience of lawyers in the Turin courthouse - it took us 21 days to make the reform, it didn't seem to me that for you four months were not enough".

Fornero then praised the contribution system, recently applied in the public pension sector, as the only way to achieve sustainability and a fair distribution of resources. The wage system, on the contrary, has been indicated as a source of unsustainability and social inequity, especially in relation to future generations.
