Formigoni sentenced to 6 years for corruption

Six years sentence and 6,6 million confiscated: for the judges of the tenth criminal section of the Court of Milan, Roberto Formigoni is guilty. Guilty of the crime of corruption in the trial with the Pavia Maugeri foundation at the center, which deals in particular with rehabilitation in the health field. But not that of criminal association. The sentence also includes six years of disqualification from public office and the payment (jointly with the fixer Pierangelo Daccò and the former councilor Antonio Simone, his co-defendants) of a provisional payment of three million to the Region (civil party), a sort of advance waiting for the judge to establish the amount of compensation. The sentence was read in the maxi courtroom of the first assizes court of appeal, the same as the trials against Silvio Berlusconi. The prosecutors who supported the accusation, Laura Pedio and Antonio Pastore, declined to comment. But outside the courtroom, immediately after the sentence was read, they embraced.

In Formigoni the judges confiscated assets for 6,6 million euros: among these there is fifty percent of the famous villa in Sardinia, the purchase of which was one of the central points of the investigation; the sentence establishes the transfer of the other half of the shares of the property to Albergo Perego, a friend and roommate in the Memores Domini residence. Perego, on the other hand, was acquitted. The highest confiscation is the one ordered, however, for Pierangelo Daccò: over 23 million euros. For Simone the confiscation is equal to 15,9 million, for the former administrative director of the Maugeri Foundation Costantino Passerino the confiscation is for assets equal to 8 million. In total, the assets confiscated from the defendants have a value of over 53,8 million.
