Forbes: 7 reasons to ditch Facebook (and focus on Twitter and Instagram)

Goodbye Facebook, follow me on Twitter. The editorialist of Forbes Tim Maurer, who in an article in the US magazine explains to readers the seven reasons why they should leave Mark Zuckerberg's social network and find a new dimension (as expressed by many recent trends) with Twitter and Instagram.

"No one has offended me - Maurer clarifies immediately -, I have not had bad experiences nor am I terrified by the idea of a Big Brother who persecutes me and ends up making me paranoid". So here's the first reason: “Facebook sucks time out of my life, and time is money”. Not that tweeting or posting photos on Instagram generates profits, but objectively the time lost on the 1 billion user platform corresponds to whole hours of the day rather than quick clicks.

“The second reason is that most of my Facebook friends aren't actually friends. They aren't even enemies, it's not that I wish them harm, but the factors that lead us to communicate only via the internet are obviously not geographical". The third reason is photo sharing, the pride of Instagram (always owned by Zuckerberg, anyway) and which is losing appeal on Facebook: “There are better platforms for sharing photos: now almost everyone does it from Instagram, and then posts them again on Facebook. But we might as well do it directly and only on Instagram, right?”.

In fourth place in the Forbes ranking there is a reason that many of us have probably thought at least once, between football or political tussle, like/unlike wars and various comments, even offensive, thanks to the protection of the screen of the pcs: “Facebook brings out the worst in people”.

In fifth place, the (losing) comparison with Twitter: “I learned more about Twitter – confesses Maurer -. Twitter is to Facebook what a biography is to a novel. I know there's nothing wrong with reading fiction, but I confess that I (perhaps mistakenly) feel a little guilty when I spend time reading something that doesn't (or won't have) real dimension. Twitter is a source of real news, it's a resource, not a popularity contest."

Then, the excessive presence of advertising: “The presence of ads on Facebook is getting ridiculous – Maurer sentences -, am I really the only one who notices it?”. Finally, the seventh reason: “Less is more, less is more. I want to make life easier, reduce its cost (not only financially) and improve its quality. I want to minimize the number of things that distract me from the important things. Less is the new more."
