Recyclable food packaging: Terni, Novamont and Invitalia invest 10 million

The initiative concerns the construction of a plant dedicated to a new product of vegetable origin deriving from sugars.

A plant dedicated to a new product of vegetable origin deriving from sugars (FDA extension) intended for the food packaging sector and the creation of 12 new places of work.

These are the objectives of the investment program from 10 million euro presented to Invitalia by Novamont, an international leader in the production of compostable bioplastics.

The initiative is there third which Invitalia, the National Development Agency, admits to the concessions provided by the Law 181 / 89 (after Fucine Umbre and Unicalce), as part of the public notice for the "Local labor system of Terni”, whose resources will soon be fully committed.

The investment project presented by Novamont is aimed at expanding and diversifying the production unit of Terni for the realization of the aforementioned FDCA product.

Invitalia has approved the initiative which will be financed with 5,8 million euros in subsidies (5 million subsidized loan and the rest as a non-repayable grant).

The importance of this investment – ​​he added Domenico Arcuri, CEO of Invitalia – lies in the fact that the focus is on the circular economy and on a model of sustainable development, also contributing to solving the problem of plastic disposal. A positive signal on the territory that adds to the already positive trend recently observed on the growth of the local entrepreneurial system".

Novamont, established in 1989, is today a group comprised of four production sites, two research centres, sales offices in Germany, France and the United States and a representative office in Brussels (Belgium). It bases its activity on the use of renewable resources of agricultural origin with low environmental impact.
