There is a "good climate" in the EU Commission, after a first reading of the Stability Law. According to what the agencies reported today, quoting "qualified sources from the European Union", from Brussels they believe that Italy is "more solid" than in 2014 and "there will be no return" of the maneuver to the sender within the week, a possibility theoretically envisaged by the "six pack" in the event of serious shortcomings. However, as also mentioned by Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, the question of the "migrant discount" remains open, on the basis of which Italy could obtain a reduction of the constraint on the deficit which can be worth around 3 billion, which would lead the maneuver to be worth 30 instead of 27, opening up the possibility of reduce corporate income tax as early as 2016 and not only since 2017.
The Economy Minister also spoke on the budget today Pier Carlo Padoan: “With last year's Stability Law, which we forgot about, we cut a lot. This year we will continue with the cuts, above all we will remove the ministries and, as regards the other government bodies, it will be a question of a minor increase in spending”. “The abolition of the Tasi on first homes – continued Padoan – and other municipal taxes will be fully returned to the municipalities. The coverage for these operations is in the Stability Law”. Padoan stressed that “like last year” the “deficit shrinks and debt decreases (from next year), but at the same time we provide expansionary support to households and businesses.
