After the auditors, even the actuary ends up in the crosshairs of the prosecutors. The case once again concerns Fonsai, and in particular the hole of over 600 million euros which according to the magistrates was hidden in the 2010 budget.
The Guardia di Finanza announced that the new name entered in the register of suspects is that of Fulvio Gismondi, the actuary in charge of the company. The alleged offenses are concurrence in aggravated accounting fraud and market manipulation as well as false ideology. The Gdf of Turin also said that searches are underway in Rome and Milan.
According to the indictment, Gismondi participated in the falsification of the 2010 financial statements of Fondiaria Sai, certifying the adequacy of the reserves, even though he knew that they were considerably underestimated.
In the past few days, two guarantee notices and conclusions of the preliminary investigations for aggravated accounting fraud were served on two auditors in Rome and Turin.
On October 15, the investigating judge of Turin had accepted the request for immediate trial for Salvatore Ligresti, his daughter Jonella and three former managers of Fonsai. The first hearing is scheduled for December 4th.
