Fonsai, the Ligresti condemned

The court of Turin inflicted 6 years on the ex patron and 5 years and 8 months on his daughter: for the two also a fine of 1,2 million euros.

The court of Turin has condemned ex owner of Fonsai Salvatore Ligresti at 6 and daughter Jonella at 5 years and 8 months. The two, who were accused of false accounting and information rigging, were also fined 1,2 million euros. The trial concerned the hole of over 800 million euros in the financial statements of the insurance group which led to a double capital increase and the merger with Unipol.

In particular, more than 2010 million euros were omitted from the claims reserves in the 500 financial statements of FonSai and Milano Assicurazioni, which would have caused damage to shareholders of 251 million euros. The elderly financier was not present at the reading of the sentence issued by the college chaired by Giorgio Gianetti.

The former auditor of Fondiaria Sai Riccardo Ottaviani (2 years and 6 months) and the CEO were also sentenced. by Fonsai Fauso Marchionni (5 years and 3 months). Instead, Antonio Talarico, former vice president of the insurance company, and former auditor Ambrogio Virgilio were acquitted.
