Funds, top collection since 2017: PIRs are doing well, sustainable boom

Continue on recovery of the asset management industry which in the third quarter of 2021 recorded net inflows of 18,5 billion euros, thanks above all to the contribution of open-ended funds which reached 17 billion euros. In the first 9 months of the current year, subscriptions reached their quota 70 billion euros, marking the best result since 2017. 

These are the main data contained in the map published by Assogestioni. Going into detail, in the third quarter the managed assets amounted to 2.544 billion euros, an increase of 24 billion compared to the previous quarter. The share of masses invested in collective management, which rose to 51,5% of the total.    

As mentioned, ifopen waves they raised 17 billion euros in the three months from July to September. Positive all the main categories: balanced (+6,4 billion), equities (+4 billion) and bonds (+3,4 billion). The performance recorded in the third quarter by the sustainable open funds, which recorded positive net inflows of 14,5 billion euro, with promoted assets of 361,5 billion. 

Between the main managers, the Intesa Sanpaolo group closed the third quarter with net inflows of +7,1 billion and assets under management of 537 billion (21,7% of the total). In order to strengthen the network, the bank has added 291 new private bankers distributed among Fideuram, Sanpaolo Invest and IWBank, bringing the total to 5.492 professionals.

Returning to inflows, in second place is Generali, which recorded +2,68 billion in subscriptions, with assets of 521 billion (21,1%). Amundi recorded net revenues of +271,5 million, with 214 billion under management (8,7%). For Anima, flows are positive for €1,3 billion and assets amount to €199,5 billion (8,1%). Minus sign for the Post Offices, recording -2,2 billion (with outflows of 2,97 billion from "other management"), with assets under management of 110,6 billion (4,5%). 

Signs of recovery also come from the Pir, with Pir compliant open funds which recorded net subscriptions of 155 million, an improvement on the 106 million inflows of the previous quarter. Since the beginning of the year, however, the balance remains negative for 56 million. The assets promoted by the 68 funds in the segment amount to 20,2 billion. The most popular type in the quarter is that of balanced funds, with net inflows of +102,7 million, after +42,8 million in the second quarter. Positive balance also for the equity PIRs with +39,7 million, but less brilliant than in the three months to June (+109,2 million). Bonds mark +6,7 million in funding, after +3,6 million and flexible bonds are also in positive territory with +5,6 million after -49,9 million.
