Foundations: yes to the Acri-Mef Protocol?

The Protocol will make it possible to regulate in greater detail some processes concerning the governance and activity of Foundations of banking origin: 83 of the 86 Foundations adhering to the Association have expressed their complete agreement.

A little less than a month after the approval by the Council of Acri (March 11, 2015) of the Protocol d'agreement with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, 83 of the 86 Foundations adhering to the Association have expressed their complete agreement. The Protocol will make it possible to regulate in greater detail some processes concerning the governance and activity of Foundations of banking origin, in the wake of the Ciampi Law which governs them and the Charter of Foundations approved by ACRI in 2012. In particular, the implementation of The contents of the Protocol will make it possible to limit the risks associated with the Foundations' nature as institutional investors and, at the same time, to further unleash their potential for the benefit of the entire community.

The Protocol will be formally signed by the Mef and Acri in the next few days. “A sign of great responsibility and maturity of our Foundations – commented the president of Acri Joseph Guzzetti – which demonstrates their determined will to take a further step forward in the virtuous path of giving greater effectiveness and transparency to their activity, while respecting their autonomy and independence".

Of the 3 Foundations missing from the appeal, all of small dimensions, with assets that overall represent only 0,5% of the assets of the entire system: one has postponed its decision; the other did not adhere to the Protocol as it did not agree with the article relating to the diversification of assets; the third was pronounced negatively.
