Unicredit Foundation launches 35 scholarships: here's who can receive them

35 study and research grants, aimed at supporting talents involved in economics and finance for a total amount of 1 million euros. This is the initiative launched by the Unicredit Foundation, the foundation of the banking group established in 2003.

Going into the details of the project, scholarships to support the study, whose online registrations will be open from 15 November 2019, will be divided as follows:

  • 2 Crivelli Europe scholarships from 65 thousand euros each for graduates in economics, banking and finance who want to enroll in a research doctorate abroad starting from the 2020-2021 academic year. There is also a Special Crivelli Scholarship of 20.000 euros, again aimed at enrollment in a PhD course abroad, to partially cover expenses. 
  • 3 scholarships Marco Fanno 2019 from 65 thousand euros each for graduates in economics, banking and finance who wish to enroll in a research doctorate course abroad starting from the 2020-2021 academic year. 
  • 15 Study-Abroad Exchange Program Scholarships aimed at university students (three-year degree or master), enrolled at least in the second year of a degree course in economics, finance or law at any European university within the Unicredit perimeter, who wish to spend a study period abroad, from 3 to 6 months, at any university within the Unicredit perimeter. The "winners" will receive a check for 700 euros per month for the duration of the exchange and a fixed amount of 1.000 euros for travel or other expenses. 

For research instead, the following are provided:

  • 3 Foscolo Europe Top-Up Research Scholarships aimed at the three best departments of economics or finance that will participate in the PhD job markets in the year 2019/2020. The Foundation will award each winning department an annual contribution of 50.000 euros, as a supplement to the remuneration and other contractual terms offered by the department to the successful candidate. Applications can be received until 30 September 2019.
  • 2 Marco Scholarships Make Fellowship aimed at the best economics or finance departments of Italian state universities that assign RTDB researcher positions (senior researchers) by 31 December 2020. Each researcher selected from the winning departments will receive an annual grant of 15.000 euros for the duration of three years. The competition will remain open until 31 December 2019.
  • 4 Modigliani Research Grants: 10.000 euros gross per year for researchers employed at any European university to carry out a research project in economics or finance, to be completed within a maximum period of two years. The prize, paid directly to the winner, is annual and renewable up to a maximum of 2 years. Applications must be received by 15 November 2019.
  •  4 ECON Job Market Best Paper Awards for PhD students and doctorates in economics or finance who will participate in the European Economics Job Market in Rotterdam in December 2019. The four winners will receive a prize of 1.000 euros each and will participate in the award ceremony in Rotterdam. Papers can be sent until 1 October 2019.
  •  2 SUERF/Unicredit Foundation Prizes: the two best papers on the theme "Passive versus Active Asset Portfolio Management: Trends, Drivers, Risks" will be awarded 2.500 euros each.
