Research & Entrepreneurship Foundation: 10 startups awarded

The "Startup & SME Development Program" promoted by the Foundation awarded the ten winning projects, to which qualified Consulting and Business Acceleration services will be provided for a period of six months.

It was held at Villa Cattaneo dell'Olmo, in the Auditorium of the Ansaldo Foundation in Genoa, the awarding of the winners of the "Programma Sviluppo Startup & Innovative PMI" of the Research & Entrepreneurship Foundation.

The event was attended by representatives of the world of universities and large Italian companies, among which Giuseppe Zampini, President of Confindustria Genoa, Professor Riccardo Varaldo, Chairman of the Management Board of the R&I Foundation, Eng. Amedeo Caporaletti, President of the Technical-Scientific Commission of FR&I and Eng. Fabrizio Landi, Vice President of the R&I Foundation; the Councilor of the Liguria Region for Employment Policies, Giovanni Berrino, brought a contribution on the role of the institutions.

The winning proposals that have been selected from the dozens of projects received from all over Italy, have as object of their activity some of the different themes and sectors previously identified by the Large Industries partners of the R&I Foundation. The evaluation process, which lasted about two months, saw the participation of twelve qualified experts, representative of the industrial intervention areas identified and coming from the productive, scientific and innovative finance context at national level.

In particular the 10 winners:

DUAL CAM of Genoa, (Spin off of the Italian Institute of Technology for IIT) for remote drone detection through optical/acoustic measurement and AGRISU' of Turin (spin off of the University of Turin) for the monitoring of dangerous chemical elements through the detection of environmental pollutants thanks to micro control units (Security technology area);

SMART TRACK, of Genoa – (Innovative Startup) for the indoor localization system in environments not reached by the GPS satellite signal and INFIBRA TECHNOLOGIES, of Pisa (Spin off Scuola Superiore S. Anna) for the detection of temperatures and structural conditions of the pipes line over long distances through the continuous control of the optical fiber (Safety area);

ADVANCED MICROTURBINES, of Genoa (Spin Off of the Italian Institute of Technology) for the generation of power in off-grid areas through the use of micro turbines and HOTBLACK ROBOTICS of Turin (Innovative SME) for energy management through robotic services for the monitoring within data centers (Energy sector);

D HEARTS, of Genoa (Innovative Startup) for the acquisition of cardiovascular screening in remote areas using micro-devices connected to smartphones and CAMELOT of Genoa (Innovative SME) for the innovative platform for the ablation treatment of tumors with high-resolution ultrasound technology intensity (Biotech field);

ARTYS, of Genoa (Spin off of the University of Genoa) for the innovative system for detecting hydrological weather data through the analysis of the satellite television signal and PEDIUS, of Rome (Innovative Startup of a social nature) for the application for the transformation of railway data from the audio format to text messages for the deaf and foreigners (Environment area).

In addition to access to the Networking with the Foundation's partners, the winners will be paid qualified services for a duration of approximately six months including Business Acceleration, Personalized Consultancy and Assessment, Education, Mentoring and Advisoring, Scale-Up Industrial Plan, Support for Access to Innovative Financial Services, Advertising and Pitching.

The distinctive element of the R&I Foundation's programme, based on the two targets Innovative Start-ups and Innovative SMEs, lies not only in the involvement of the industrial world, but above all in the fact that the starting point is precisely the demand for technological innovation expressed by the large partner industries of the Foundation, for which the outcome has been found to be very promising, both for the number of project proposals presented and for their quality.
