Mudina Foundation: the performance "Achilleus" by Eric Andersen

For the space of the Mudima Foundation in Milan, Eric Andersen has created an exhibition itinerary that retraces some of his works from the recent past, also linked to the exhibition history of the Foundation and his historic commitment to the Fluxus group. The works on display are videos, installations, performances, silk-screens and floor-drawings.

The videos "Achilleus", The Sunlawn, "Marianne (Artificial Stars)" take us between new planets to be built and artificial stars, along a path that is articulated around various installations: "The Banner", the longest serigraph ever made (50 meters) which challenges the observer to never look at it, the re-enactment of the performance "Achilleus", conceived for the exhibition Ubi Fluxus Ibi Motus curated by Achille Bonito Oliva in Venice in 1990 and finally "Please Leave", a new form of dance whose instructions are written all over the floor of the Foundation.

Eric Andersen lives in Copenhagen and has been working since 1958 ranging across different media, crossing and contaminating expressive means and forms of diffusion, from performance to the radio, from music to the visual arts, from installation to sculpture, from Mail Art to the invisibility and disappearance of the work, up to developing even a unprecedented form of art defined as “Instrumental Art”.

Already present since 1960 with some performance events, in November 1962 Eric Andersen takes part for the first time in a Fluxus concert, the one held during the Festum Fluxorum at the Nikolai Kirke in Copenhagen, to then become in the following years one of the most significant voices of the movement, participating in Events and Fluxus festivals in Europe and in the world, with such a free and desecrating spirit that he was even condemned for "heresy" in 1964 by George Maciunas, the founder- impresario of the movement.
