After the president Antonella Mansi, the new general manager of the Mps Foundation Enrico Granata also raises his shields against the resignation of the current top management of the bank, during a meeting with journalists in Siena: "We are confident that the top management of the bank will remain at their place, if there is a different condition we will face it”.
The question of the possible resignations of the president of the institute Alessandro Profumo and of the CEO Fabrizio Viola has been pending since 28 December, after the meeting that sanctioned the decision by the Foundation to postpone the expected capital increase after the first quarter from 3 billion, against the will of the same management.
The Foundation, which holds 33,5% of Banca Mps, in the meantime plans to find buyers for its shares, in order to repay the 390 million euro debt contracted with the creditor banks. According to Granata “it is important that the Foundation remains a shareholder of the bank, but it must diversify its assets; this is an unavoidable requirement to avoid a situation of excessive concentration on a match”.
Meanwhile, in the late morning, on a decidedly positive day for the Italian stock exchange, MPS shares advanced cautiously, gaining 0,43%.
