Generali Foundation and 80th Venice International Film Festival: appointment on 1 September at the House of The Human Safety Net

“Lights! Room! Impact! From moving pictures to moving ideas and action” is an exploration and celebration of cinema that puts creativity at the service of social issues. Organized by The Human Safety Net, it is a meeting of directors and pioneers of impact storytelling to be held on the occasion of the Venice International Film Festival, on Friday 17.00st September, from XNUMX pm.

The Human Safety Net was founded in 2007 by General Foundation and it is a movement of people who help other people with the aim of supporting the most vulnerable, families with young children and refugees, so that they can express their potential and improve the living conditions and those of their families and communities. This event will bring together protagonists from the world of entertainment, philanthropy and the defense of human rights, in collaboration with Think-Film Impact Production, a media company that this year will launch the first edition of the Collateral Impact Award at the Venice Film Festival, and with Vital Voices Global Partnership. At the Italian preview of the short film “Portrait of a Stranger“, the result of the collaboration between UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) and the award-winning directors Platon and Anadil Hossain, will be followed by the opening speech by Gabriele Galateri di Genola, President of The Human Safety Net.

Gabriele Galateri of Genola, President of the Foundation The Human Safety Net, commented:
“We are happy to promote a dialogue that sees the crucial theme of integration intertwine with the different narratives that are drawn from it in the media. In particular, the power of cinematic representation can help us look differently at the voices and life experiences of people seeking a future elsewhere. With The Human Safety Net, our mission is to provide concrete support to those who intend to build an entrepreneurial or work path, as a strategic element for integration, providing tools to develop talents and skills".

The evening of September 1 is an exploration and celebration of cinema that explores creativity on social issues

Anadil Hossain, curator of the initiative and director commented: “Stories create connections between communities and cultures, challenging the way we look at the world and at each other. Now more than ever, we need our collective imagination to make this connection more effective."

Also present will be Tamara Kotevska, director of "The Walk", who will share an excerpt from her documentary on the global phenomenon of Little Amal (the 3,50-metre puppet depicting a Syrian refugee girl who has traveled the world, raising public awareness on the topic of refugees), in a conversation hosted by Alyse Nelson, co-founder, president and CEO of Vital Voices on the power of women-led storytelling and collaboration.

This will be followed by a discussion with creatives and film industry practitioners on how films can drive change and have real impact. Speakers include Danielle Turkov-Wilson (CEO of Think-Film), actresses Elsa Zylberstein (also present at the Festival in the cast of “Coup de Chance”) and Yalitza Aparicio (Oscar candidate for her role in Alfonso Cuarón's film , Leone d'Oro and Oscar Award, “Roma”) and Stefano Savona, director of documentaries that won numerous awards.

The initiative will take place at the House of The Human Safety Net, at the Procuratie Vecchie in Piazza San
Marco
, a unique space, opened last year to the public for the first time in 500 years, after a long restoration work by the architect David Chipperfield, this year's Pritzker Prize winner.
